Cool mornings – Warm Afternoons until Sunday

We are setting up for a very pleasant Thanksgiving. Thursday, Friday and Saturday should all feature cool and damp mornings as we’ve had for the past few days followed by warm sunny afternoons once the fog burns off.

Clouds will start to move in on Saturday night and we will see some light showers starting Sunday morning through the day. Nothing serious, you should still be able to go for a nice walk outside with an umbrella handy before sunset.

However, Sunday night a system comes in off the Pacific and will deliver rain throughout Sunday night it might be a little windy as well.

We could see a break by around mid-morning on Thanksgiving Monday.

On this 8-11AM Monday image, the initial wave of precipitation has moved through. Port Alberni is in a gap in the precipitation before another weaker wave approaches from the west.

Followed by a last wave of showers in the afternoon and evening before the winds shift and the system moves away. In all, nothing too serious, but enough to make a warm dinner with family worthwhile.

New Webcam coming online.

If you have been following on Mastodon you will know that I’ve recently acquired a new webcam! It’s online, looking straight up on my roof right now :). I will be mounting it with a view of the town in the next couple weeks once I work out a mounting system.

The Webcams page will now include both the still image above and a 24/7 Youtube Live Stream.

I’ve also created a Timelapse page with timelapses for the past 3 Hours (updated every 30min) and Previous Day (updated after midnight).

The imagery should be pretty good from the webcam once it’s pointed out toward the horizon! And we’ve already had a visitor!
