Thanksgiving Weekend Halves

You’ll have noticed the changes on the website. My main goal is to make the site quicker to load and a little less complex. It has been giving me some trouble lately so I decided to try to make some improvements. Let me know if you have any suggestions,

As for Thanksgiving, we have two halves to look forward to, the first half, Friday and Saturday look sunny to partly cloudy. The second half looks cloudy with rain starting Monday.

Friday and Saturday – Fog and Sun – First Frost?

Expect the fog to stick around until mid morning or noon on both Friday and Saturday but it should burn off eventually and allow the sun to shine in the afternoon. We might hit 20°C both days even though the morning lows might get to freezing.

This morning’s forecast is below showing 0-4°C and the EC low this morning at the Airport was indeed 2°C at midnight (before it fogged over)

summer extreme temperature scale

Did you see the Aurora last night?

Here is the forecast for Saturday morning. Again we can see temperatures down near freezing in the Valley.

Moderating clouds and rain Sunday – Monday

On Saturday night the clouds will roll in and keep us from cooling down as low, but by Sunday morning we should see some showers starting on the West and North parts of the Island and reaching into the Alberni Valley by 8AM as you can see below.

The chance of showers will continue throughout Sunday and by overnight Sunday into Monday the rain will move in. Below shows the rain first getting to Alberni by 2AM Monday.

Expect widespread rain and winds from the southeast on the Island by 8AM as the system moves in.

The back of the system should move through and the rain should taper to showers in the afternoon Monday. Below is the 11-2PM picture showing the rain just starting to exit the mid-Island but still going strong in Vancouver.

More housekeeping notes.

You may have noticed the Timelapses are not updating. I had to turn off the automatic updates as it was over-working the weather server and causing drops in the data. So for now, the webcams are still live but I am holding off on the timelapses.

Have a wonderful thanksgiving!
