There was a fantastic crescent moon this morning. Did you see it? Unfortunately the webcam doesn’t do it justice, but it does capture some of the spooky of the sky this morning.

There are wind warnings posted for many parts of Vancouver Island, but not Inland Vancouver Island. However, it is still pretty blustery, as it was yesterday.
This will be the last hurrah for the stormy weather for at least the next few days, maybe even a week as a strong blocking ridge of high pressure is going to take over.
Cliff Mass in Washington tells us this is called an Omega block and his explanation and details about it are very interesting.
Here is what it looks like on the charts. This is a chart of the upper atmosphere and Jetstream for Saturday. You can see the flow go away over our heads and sharply back down through the Interior and West North America.
Personally, them thar fancy symbols are a bit too much for me… Who uses these anyway?
So In honour of one of my favourite Bugs Bunny episodes, I propose a new name, for this atmospheric phenomenon:
