We’ve had almost 11mm of rain in the past 24hrs and we are going to get a whole lot more before the end of the work week.
But before you think that this month has been abnormally wet, that’s just your summer wishful thinking kicking in. So far we have received 37mm of rain in August. The normal rainfall for Port Alberni (Robertson Creek Hatchery) is 50mm.
I think it’s just that our Augusts have been so dry over the past few years that we’ve forgotten that late August especially often brings rain.
We should definitely reach that normal mark if the forecast for the next couple days pans out.
After a bit of a rest through Wednesday, the rain should return by 8PM or so.
But that’s just the warmup. Thursday will bring major rainfall starting in the late morning and lasting clear through to Midnight Friday.
Orange is 2mm of rainfall per hour.
But then the good news:
Fear not, there is a bright side to all of this.
#1 BCwildfire.ca has lifted the campfire ban for Coastal BC.
#2 It’s going to be a beautiful weekend! There might be some fog lingering in the mornings, but it should clear up and be beautiful Saturday, Sunday and Monday of the Labour Day Weekend!
So to all of you going out to fish in the World Famous Port Alberni Salmon Derby and Festival, good luck! It’s going to be a great weekend to be on the water.
