As expected most of the rain has been concentrated on the South end of the Island overnight.
That will not have helped the folks on Mt. Washington.
We have only received 1mm of rain in the past 24hrs. We got just over 8mm total this week so far. Here’s an interesting stat though, since the rain total is so little the amount of evapotranspiration does matter even in these dark days of winter. Since Monday (Click Weekly under the Home-Almanacs button), we’ve had 8.1mm of rain and 0.5mm of evapotranspiration. This is measured by a combination of humidity, wind, temperature and the solar radiation sensor on the station.
We should get a little more moisture on Thursday but it is from a less predictable system moving from east to west over the Island so it will drop most of its moisture on the Parksville/Qualicum area.
After that it doesn’t look like we have a good chance of rain until at least the middle of next week.
