More rain and wind on the way

The line of systems keeps on coming. You can see our future weather pretty clearly on this forecast shot. Five separate systems stretching all the way up into the Bering Sea, all forecast to swoop down and across and onto us.

First though, we will dry out a bit today (Friday) as we wait for the next vigorous system to come in on Saturday afternoon.

There will be rain with this system, but the story is likely to be the winds. If you are planning on taking a ferry Saturday night or Sunday morning you might want to be prepared for delays.

A deep (97.7kPa) low will cross the north island and will bring very widespread strong winds gusting over 65-70knots (100+kph) on the exposed west coast of Vancouver Island and Washington State.

These strong gusting winds will spread to Georgia strait, likely in the 40-50knot range. Enough to cause the ferries some uncomfortable crossings or cancellations. As with any strong wind event, power outages are likely, especially on the West and East coast of the Island.

We will get a brief break early Sunday morning and then another punch of rain will coming through Sunday around noon.

So get ready for a wet and wild weekend.
