Update: the fire danger forecast has been downgraded to not get to extreme by Sunday the 13th but it may change again before we get there and I would be surprised if we did not reach extreme fire danger by Monday or Tuesday at the latest. (apologies for the Wednesday error 🙂 thanks to George for pointing it out. )
Well, I’m back!
I dedicate this post to my wonderful Grandma Neufeld in Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario who I got to visit for the first time in 9 years. Isn’t she wonderful! 🙂
Now! To the weather! It’s a really easy forecast for the next week! It’s going to be HOT! Darn Hot! There is some difference of opinion among the Washington and Environment Canada models though, so while they all agree it’s going to be beautiful, the level of heat differs.
You can see the forecasted highs from EC on the side of this page of course. Look out on Monday! Yikes! So we will compare to the UWash model from this morning.
Thursday Afternoon High:
EC says 30ºC, UWash says 27ºC.
Friday Afternoon High:
EC says 34ºC, UWash says 31ºC.
Saturday High:
EC says 34ºC, UWash says 31ºC.
Sunday High:
EC says 34ºC, Long range (less precise) UWash says 31ºC.
And the heat looks like it will continue right into at least Thursday next week!
Speaking of next week. The latest BC Wildfire forecast shows the Beaver Creek station is going to get to Extreme wildfire danger by Sunday the 13th if the weather does not change.
The fire danger is currently “High” now, it is going to rise very quickly. There are no campfire bans in effect yet but please be very careful with any source of heat or fire or sparks in the back country. Whether you are camping, or ATV’ing the smallest spark can generate a forest fire in a matter of minutes.
Other than that, have a great day! Hope you make it to a beach or can enjoy the sun in your backyard. Stay cool and hydrated and have fun!

Welcome back. Jet lag must be to blame for Wednesday not being the 13th:

Lol. I’ll go with that excuse. It should have said Sunday the 13th. Though I see now they have updated the fire danger forecast and it no longer gets to extreme on Sunday. I would expect it to get there anyway within a day or two.
