You need to see this solar eclipse… so make sure you click through!
The storm has now passed. There may be some lingering light showers through the day but the heaviest of the rain has definitely ended.
Due to a filled up hard drive I had some data issues yesterday, of course, but they have now been resolved and the data on the page here is up to date and correct.
Some final tallies:
Low Barometer: 98.5kPa. That’s pretty low but not unprecedented.
Rainfall: 58mm in the past 24 hours including 25 since midnight.
Top Wind: 54kph this morning just before 5AM.
Low Windchill: Just below 0ºC! No wonder parts of Cumberland got a little snow… it’ll be long gone this morning I am sure.
That’s about it. It was a good one. There remains a High Streamflow Advisory for the Somass river and the rivers and streams all around the Island are high and fast. Cameron River this morning was raging. Nanoose Bay was actually brown from all the runoff.
Rain showers should begin again late tonight or early Friday morning.
And now something completely different. A Solar Eclipse, from a plane.
An Alaska Airlines flight from Alaska to Hawaii made a special diversion to its flight path this week in order to fly right through the full shadow of the moon.
The Youtube below is nothing short of spectacular. How lucky those people are to be on that plane. Truly a once in a lifetime and extremely privileged experience. It must have been totally awe inspiring with the benefit of ones own eyes but even the youtube video is amazing.
Enjoy:
After every eclipse, like after every storm, there is light and calm, but it is the progression that truly inspires.

Narrator reminds me a little of the Montry Python Solar Eclipse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qQEsVl0wkQ
The actual visual of the eclipse is wonderful.
