A pleasant week after a fiery record hot weekend.

A pleasant week after a fiery record hot weekend.

The fire on Cameron main is now listed as “Active” rather than “Out of Control” on the bcwildfire.ca website.

We got a clean sweep for short term high temp records at the Airport on the weekend. Friday the 23rd at 29.1°C, Saturday at 33.4°C, and Sunday at 34.7°C all broke the previous records at the Airport but none were quite extreme enough for an all time high which are in the 36-37°C range.

The photo below is what the fire looked like Sunday afternoon and is courtesy Justin Fraser.

It seems as though crews have the situation in hand. Hopefully they can get it officially contained and mopped up during the week.

The Fire Danger is now High across most of the Island.

It is predicted to stay at high throughout the week and firefighters won’t be getting any help from the weather as there is no rain in the forecast.

On the other hand, there is no rain in the forecast and it is supposed to be above 25 through Thursday! A very nice summer week with part sun and part clouds. Canada Day is looking perfect with partly sunny skies and temperatures around 23°C.

I will be flying out of the country on June 30/Friday so I will make one more post likely Wednesday morning and then this blog will have a break until August 2… unless I post travel pics. 🙂

Have a pleasant week and please please please be safe in the backcountry!

Happy Monday!
