Before I get started, I want you to know about a great app available for iOS (I don’t have an Android device so please if someone has suggestions let me know).
The App is called “WUnderstation”. It connects to any Personal Weather Station that reports to the Wunderground service.
Note Wunderstation is for iPad Only (sorry! Didn’t realize that :))
Wunderground has two apps, for iPhone and Android:
Weather Underground (iPhone) (Android)
and
WUnderMap (iPhone) (Android) (iPad)
There happen to be three, including mine, in the Alberni Valley!
It displays all the information from the station plus archived information as well.
it does it in multiple kinds of views. You can have as much or as little as you wish. My station is listed as “Redford”
Go check it out on the App Store. It is free, and no ads!
You should notice some new displays on the sidebar here. I am trying out some new plugins for the blog and working on other things on the backend of the site to modernize it and improve the displays. So stay tuned for that.
As for the forecast, I don’t think we will see much if any snow in Port Alberni despite the EC forecast this morning.
The Uwash model shows little to no precipitation at all this morning. It was drizzling a little when I stepped out the door this morning and there is some on the radar but I don’t expect any serious precipitation until tonight in the 4-7PM period.
Once that moisture rolls in we will be at the mercy of the air temperature to determine if we get any snow but given how warm it is in Tofino and Victoria (8-9°C) I think the warm air will come in pretty quickly and ensure this is a rain event only. However, you never know, so be prepared if you are driving tonight or tomorrow morning.
