Greatest chance for thunder Thursday.
The cooler and unsettled weather will bring the chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon. Port Alberni will likely see the most rain around noon to 2PM. East sections of the Island will see rain start a little later.
The threat of thunder and lightning will start around noon and extend through the evening. All regions of the central and south Island could see some storm activity. The most likely outcome though will be pockets of heavy rain near the mountains so be aware of that if you are driving.
Friday smaller chance thunder but more rain, especially Port Alberni and Parksville.
An odd pattern sets up on the models for Friday as Port Alberni and Parksville in particular has consistently been pegged for what looks like spotty but heavy rain on Friday. Note the blue and green areas below.
Hot next week.
Once this unsettled pattern dissipates the long range models are predicting hotter than normal temperatures. This twitter forecaster is more focused on the East. But our side of the continent is clearly of interest too.
EC has us up to 25°C on Wednesday. That may get higher as we get closer.
Happy Thursday.
