We have clear skies for the next 3 days! And bonus, we might have Aurora again! Here’s the forecast from spaceweather.com the “strong” Geomagnetic storm.
GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH: A strong G3-class geomagnetic storm is possible on Oct. 30th when the CME from yesterday’s X1-flare is expected to hit Earth’s magnetic field. Such storms can spark naked-eye auroras as far south as Illinois and Oregon (typically 50° geomagnetic latitude) and photographic auroras at even lower latitudes. Lesser G1 and G2-class storms could persist through Halloween as Earth passes through the CME’s wake.
Good night sky viewing for Friday and Saturday
The night skies look clear on the models. There is still a good chance of fog but hopefully it will hold off so everyone can have a good view. If it does, head up to the Hump or Sutton Pass to escape the cover.
Freezing temperatures.
The clear skies mean one thing: cold. This will be our first definite below freezing weather. Expect lows on Saturday and Sunday down to -2ºC before getting back to rain on Monday.
