Friday Early Afternoon Rain
Rain will begin likely around 10AM in and around the Alberni Valley. The 11AM-2PM period looks like this below:
There will be heavier rain along the ridges, including Cameron Lake, so that will be a concern for rock and tree fall and for the safety of the firefighters there. The picture above suggests 2 to 5mm in that 3hr period along Mt Arrowmisth and around Horne Lake and Cameron Lake. 7-13mm is expected on the exposed west coast sections by early afternoon.
The rain will be short-lived though. By the 2-5PM period, the Alberni Valley and points east and north are dry and the rain will be stopping in the Cowichan Valley, Huu-ay-aht, Bamfield, Ditidaht, Pacheedaht and Port Renfrew directions.
The sun should return late afternoon around 4 or 5PM and make for a nice evening though there will be some northwest wind. Temperature will be up to 20ºC Friday.
Possibly Stormy Saturday Evening
Saturday is stays mostly dry but there does look to be some activity that builds over the Beauforts in the evening around 6-8PM and continues past sundown.
Nighttime showers in the Beauforts in the 11PM-2AM period.
More showers develop on Sunday afternoon. They look to me like possible thunderstorms so don’t be surprised if we see some lightning out of this and some heavy downpours.
These cells look like they could dump significant rain.
Total Rain Sunday – 20mm – More Tuesday
The model is predicting as much as 20-30mm of rain for the highlands on Sunday. That’s a big chunk and will impact the slope above Highway 4.
It should dry out on Monday a little but expect more rain to come on Tuesday before the pattern might shift back to dry weather late next week.
