Freezing temperatures where there isn’t fog/low cloud
We have had a pretty typical fall day with fog and low cloud in the Valley keeping us just above freezing. Meanwhile, higher elevations and the East Coast of the Island are mostly clear and cold with below zero temperatures in Qualicum, Hilliers and some other places just off the water.

Some showers Wednesday/Thursday then stronger Friday – nothing serious
The model is showing patchy showers over the next two days increasing Wednesday and into Thursday.
By Friday it culminates in a weak front that sweeps down the Island Thursday night and Friday morning.
However, I don’t expect much rain out of this. Perhaps a few millimetres in Port Alberni.
Looking toward Christmas
We are nearing the end of the month and that means we can see almost halfway through December on the extra-long range guidance.
That said, it doesn’t show much in terms of precipitation. Very dry for the next week and then after that it becomes a little more uncertain.
From this outlook, I’d say we can expect perhaps some rain events in the first half of December, but snow events are much less likely. The most likely scenario is cool, foggy and low cloud. I don’t see anything of great excitement here.
Have a great morning!
