The heavy rainfall warning continues. We can expect another 20-30mm through the day today. Weve already received 30mm since midnight and 90mm since midnight Tuesday.
The rain is finally starting to abate in Tofino. They received an incredible 230mm (9 inches) yesterday and are near 260 total (10 inches). That has to be near a record. We will have to see what the official measurements are from environment Canada.
Once this storm passes we should get some breaks in the clouds tomorrow and then a return to relatively cool and dry and foggy weather with a chance of flurries on the weekend.
For links to other stations check out my previous post.

Hubby is still working in Bamfield – power was out as the wind and rain yesterday/last night was huge. He said he soaked through three sets of rain clothes, but at least it was warm out 🙂
I saw the weirdest thing this morning on the way in – Tooth Acres on McCoy lake road had hundreds of seagulls in the yard and lake. I’ve been out there for many years and have not seen that many before!
Where do you get the rainfall totals for Tofino Chris?
Also interesting to note is that both Alberni and Maquinna schools have received over 50mm since midnight last night, as of 5:25 pm today.
Hi Bill. The Tofino numbers are from the Wickaninnish School station at islandweather.

Environment Canada hasn’t posted the values for the 3rd to their Daily Data site yet though.
Thanks, I wasn’t sure if you were using Wickaninnish School or if you had another source – EC still hasn’t posted for the 3rd.
They’re still not up for Tofino. Two days behind. Maybe they’re still counting? Recount? Hanging chads? 😉
