Canada Day Weekend Forecast!

Canada Day Weekend Forecast!

It’s Canada Day Weekend!  I know lots of people head out a little early… maybe even today but definitely Friday.  So here comes your full Long Weekend forecast and Port Alberni fun calendar!  Click through to see it in full!

Thursday – Showers late morning into afternoon

We woke up today to a partly cloudy sky.  Those clouds may thicken a little and deliver showers starting between 11AM-2PM.

Those showers will spread across most of the north and central Island this afternoon in the 2-5PM hours.

It should taper off after that to just some scattered showers, particularly near the hills and mountains with the threat of showers ending after 8PM.

Friday – Rainy Morning – Decent Afternoon and nice evening.

The bad news is Friday is going to be a rainy day, the Good news is that Friday should be the rainiest day, it gets better after!

Expect showers to start pretty early… around 7 or 8AM.

Rain will spread across the central Island in the 8-11AM timeframe particularly if you are near the East or West sides of the Island.

Showers should start to taper off in the afternoon but the East side of the Island in particular and Courtenay/Comox/Powell River area will still see significant rain.

Things should again dry up by sundown on Friday night.  It should be a nice sunset and campfire night!

Saturday – The Rainiest Day

Unfortunately Saturday looks like the rainiest day.

Showers will begin to sweep down the Island by 8AM and significant rain will begin between 8-11AM.

The rain will continue through the 11AM-2PM period and continue to reach down to the South Island.

Thankfully for the North and Central Island, things should start to taper off after 2PM as the front moves down the Island but the West Coast will continue to be very wet.

That pattern will continue into the 5-8PM on Saturday evening.

The evening will depend on where you are.  Luckily, for Port Alberni and the Valley, and the Funtastic and TROOPER show, the showers should be scattered and not bad for the show.

Showers will linger a lot more on the East and West side of the Island through Saturday night and evening so be prepared if you are camping.

Sunday Canada Day – Some Relief but still showery.

Sunday is in the extended forecast period so a little less certain but it is looking at least much better than Saturday.

Showers will continue to linger all day but if we look at the full period from 5AM Sunday to 5AM Monday we see only a maximum 2mm of rain expected.

The potential of showers will linger from morning though afternoon but there should also be some sunny breaks and it should be reasonably warm.  You’ll definitely want to bring an umbrella just in case for the parade along Stamp and 3rd Avenue! :0)

It should clear through the afternoon so the Funtastic Slo-Pitch Tournament and FROM THE HIP show should be ok!

Monday  – Enjoy the Morning – Rain returns after noon.

As Monday is often a travelling day, it should be OK.  Things will have dried out hopefully overnight so packing up the tent or campsite on Monday morning shouldn’t be too bad.

Showers do begin again though in the 11AM-2PM period.

And we could see fairly heavy rain in the 2-5PM timeframe.

Rain and showers will linger into the night on Monday.  So hopefully you’re mostly in the car.

That’s it!

I hope you have a fun and safe Canada Day Long Weekend! I’m looking forward to riding in the big IHS trucks in the Parade on Sunday!

Have a great weekend!

Be thankful for that as I am in Ottawa right now and the humidex temp will be in the 40C area. Gross.
