The Question: When will we get measurable snow at Alberniweather?
WE FINALLY HAVE A WINNER!
I received a text from my expert co-CEO at Alberniweather (my wife Theresa) at 3:30PM on January 8, 2019
It had snowed since about 8AM in the morning and it took that long for it to start to accumulate!
1st PRIZE: FAYE CARNAHAN
Faye guessed Sunday January 6, 11:00PM. It was actually the *last guess* before Spring! (Or the “no snow guess”). Faye wins a Gift Certificate from One Tree Health for a massage worth $65!! Congratulations!
2nd PRIZE: JEAN STEVENS
Jean guessed Monday, December 31 at 10:45PM January 6, 11:00PM. Jean wins a 5lbs box of blueberries from Avalon Farms! Congratulations!
3rd PRIZE: LYDIAN
Lydian guessed December 30 at 11:45PM! She wins a gift basket from Healthy Habits including a mug, chocolate and some coffee! Congratulations!!

Please no Facebook or Twitter entries as it gets too hard to keep track! 🙂 You must provide the date and time on a zero or a five (eg. Nov 23 12:45PM). Each entry is a five minute ‘window’. Check the rules at the bottom if you have any questions or shoot me an email or PM. This post will remain in the “Story of the Day” slider at the top of the page until the entry time is past at midnight November 12.
Entries close at 12AM Monday November 12.
I will add the entries to the Calendar below as they arrive.
If we get a qualifying amount of snow before the entry period closes, don’t worry… closest will still win, AND we will have a second contest as soon as the snow melts!
The Prize(s!)
1st Prize: One Tree Health and Wellness Gift Certificate for a one hour massage worth at least $65.
2nd Prize: A 5lb box of blueberries (frozen) from Avalon Farms ($25 value)
3rd Prize: A prize basket from Healthy Habits including mug, chocolate and coffee. ($20 value)

Here are the rules:
#1: You must pick a date, hour, and minute (eg. Nov 23 12:45). Minutes should be on the zeros or fives. You will end up with a 5 minute “window” so if you pick November 23 at 12:45PM, your window will be November 23 from 12:45PM to 12:50PM.
#2: Closest time wins.
#3: A winner will be declared when there is enough snow on the front lawn of Alberniweather HQ to measure 1cm with a standard ruler.
#4: If it snows before the contest entry period closes, a prize will be awarded and a 2nd contest will commence as soon as the snow melts.
#5: You need to be able to come to Port Alberni to get your prize!
#6: You must enter your guess in the comments section of this webapge (not facebook or twitter). You can also enter by email at alberniweather@gmail.com
#7: You can only pick one date, but you can change the date at any time during the entry period.
#8: Choices must be entered by Midnight November 12.
#9: If my wife (Theresa) wins she will get a prize as will the next closest contestant. 🙂
#10 NEW RULE for 2018: You can guess “No Snow at All”. This will be on a First come first served basis kind of like guessing $1 on the Price is Right! :). I believe Port Alberni has never recorded snow in May so I’ll “call it” on May 1. If no snow has fallen by then, the “No Snow” winner will be declared and other prizes will go to the latest guesses.
#11: I reserve the right to add to these rules since I probably missed something. 🙂

I am going to change my guess to no snow at all
OK! New Rule added! There can only be one guess of “no snow at all”. First come first served. It’s going to be like guessing $1 on Price is Right! :). I’m not sure exactly when I will award the person who chooses this! We have been known to get snow in April so… May 1?? lol. Long wait Rob! Good luck!
