Final (smokey) days of the Hawaii Mars – Live Feeds – Youtube Channel Videos

0

Update August 11: Added Saturday Youtube Video and more Sunday Plans.

We’re expecting to be in Mill Bay to see the Mars and Snowbirds this afternoon. Keep an eye on the Youtube Channel both for that and if you want to catch the Mars fly over Port Alberni see the YouTube window below!

Check out the Saturday video below as well. If you are trying to open a link in your email from last night’s “help” post, don’t worry, I removed that post and edited the video as is. It’s great!

Sunday final flight plans and Live Feed.

There has been a lot of debate in our household, as I’m sure there has been in many Port Alberni households, about where, when, and how to see the final flight of the Hawaii Mars. Here’s our plan, and it’s hopefully going to involve some content for this website and YouTube channel.

Live Port Alberni Flyover Camera (Saturday and Sunday)

I have a 4th webcam *with audio*! It is mounted on our sundeck overlooking the City with a view that should have the Mars flying overtop if it does its normal route over the City!

Live and Recorded Martin Mars Landing in Victoria

I will be recording video of the landing of Hawaii Mars in Patricia Bay hopefully with the Snowbirds in two ways

A regular video as you’ve seen on the Youtube Channel this week.

I will also try to do a Live Youtube broadcast from my phone, you’ll be able to see it at the link below starting at 5:30PM on Sunday August 11!

I will also post updates on Alberniweather Independent Social Media which you can always see on the sidebar here or on the front page and if you Subscribe to the Youtube Channel you will get notifications when new Live feeds activate.

Saturday Final Fun Flight and Landing on Sproat Lake

I spent the evening chasing the Mars as she made her last fun flight with many different planes chasing her and many many people watching on Sproat Lake, it was quite the show!

YouTube Channel Playlist old and new

I’ve been recording video of the Mars as it has been doing its daily runabouts this week. (I’m hoping to do more today and Saturday). You can check out those videos and others that I’ve recorded over the years on the Martin Mars playlist at the Alberniweather Youtube Channel.

Here’s those videos. My favourite old one is “Hawaii Mars haircut”… my favourite one from this week is yesterday’s “August 8 Martin Mars Engine Trouble”.

Weather, Smoke and Timelapses!

While I’ve been extremely busy with both house work and now the Martin Mars this past week, the weather still marches on! You can check out the July timelapses at the Playlist below!

I have also been in contact with the Amcrest webcam people to try to get them to fix the bug in their system that is preventing the cameras from transitioning from day to night mode in the still images (without a reboot). Hopefully they can fix it. You’ll notice a little bit of interruption on the south camera as I’m using that to help them troubleshoot it but it doesn’t seem to impact the live streams.

We had our worst day for air quality yesterday as smoke from fires around the province moved in. You can see at the Almanac how the Particulate Matter levels have risen over the past few days.

The smoke should dissipate in the next few days as we get a change of weather starting Sunday and into Monday and Tuesday. Hoping to see rain on Monday or Tuesday but it looks like scattered showers at best!

Old Alberniweather/fire archive.

If you really want a blast from the past, go check out the document archive at Alberniweather.ca/fire.

Have a great weekend and good luck catching the Mars!
