And so it begins. We have what looks like a full week of rain headed our way and we start today with a rainfall warning issued for the west coast of VI and a special weather statement for the rest of us.
The system will be diving down the Island starting this morning.

Rainfall warning issued for:
West Vancouver Island, B.C. (081400)
Current details:
Rain, at times heavy, is expected.A frontal system over central BC will slowly move southward today spreading significant amount of rainfall over parts of the south coast.
Rain will taper off on Tuesday as the front moves eastward. Rainfall amounts are expected to be near 100 mm by Tuesday morning.

East Vancouver Island, B.C. (081300)
West Vancouver Island, B.C. (081400)
Inland Vancouver Island, B.C. (081500)
Current details:
Two fall storms will bring double rain events to BC this week.A strong and mild southwesterly flow from the Pacific is maintaining a frontal zone over central coast. This front will slowly move southward today spreading a significant amount of rainfall over the south coast tonight. See public warnings for more details. Rain will taper off on Tuesday over coastal regions. Freezing levels over the BC interior will drop slightly on Tuesday afternoon changing precipitations into flurries at summit level for some highway passes.
The second storm system will arrive on the south coast early Wednesday, bringing another round of wind and heavy rain. Rainfall and wind warnings may be issued for this storm.
We can expect the rain to begin before 8AM this morning in Port Alberni and intensify around 11 or 12.
The rain should taper off around 5PM as you can see below.
But it will reintensify around midnight tonight.
The first storm will finally move away Tuesday morning.
We get a bit of a break on Tuesday but Wednesday morning storm number 2 arrives. It will be focus more on northwest Washington but we will still get plent more rain from it.
Thursday and Friday don’t look too bad but Saturday another storm comes through.
