Interested in saving money on your Electricity Bill?

I am!

Most of you likely know I’m into the whole Climate Change thing (not surprising given this website right?). I’m also very interested in Energy issues (Peak Oil, Sustainability, Transition Towns).

Well, my lovely wife got me a really great little device for Christmas called “TED” or “The Energy Detective”.

If you wan to know more, head over to my blog at MurkyView. You’ll be able to see the electricity consumption of my house, Live! It’s pretty sweet.

Oh, and back to the weather…. looks like we’ll get some more rain and maybe some wind on Monday/Tuesday. Fridays blast was definitely unexpected. I’m sure there are a few of my readers though that were secretly excited that there was finally some “action”. (You know who you are!)

Cheers.

Oh and by the way. If you haven’t already. I HIGHLY EXTREMELY HIGHLY RECOMMEND going here and downloading Internet Explorer 8. If your computer supports it, it is, without a doubt, the best version of Internet Explorer ever created. Please do download it. (It will make the whole website look the same whether you’re using Firefox, IE, Mac, or PC.)

So, you also like IE8? I grabbed the download within 1/2 hr of the release, & have been using it since. A quality product, for sure.
The first security hole has already been found, BTW. I wonder how long until the first patch follows? 😛

Ya, it is much better. I use Mac so have no reason to use it normally. I use it purely to test my websites to ensure they are compatible cross-platform and IE8 is the first browser from Microsoft, ever, to be fully standards compliant and renders the same as other browsers, so I’m a very happy camper.

Thus my encouragement for people to move to IE8 is really only a manifestation of my own laziness so that I only have to write the webstuff once and it should run the same for everyone! 🙂

IE8?? Eww, yuck! Give me Mozilla’s FireFox any day, thanks. I only use IE if I absolutely HAVE to, such as a website that was coded specifically for IE. Thankfully, those sites are few and far between.

Even my site is coded for all browsers, though I only test on FireFox. And when WinXP finally sees its end of life happen, then no more windoze for me. I’ll be going to a linux variation, so FireFox will be it.

    Cheers!

Haha. Oh yes I agree completely Mike… it’s Firefox or nothing for me as well. It’s just that I know there are some who only use IE so for those poor unfortunate souls, I hope they are able to get IE8.

It looks like the days of “websites coded specifically for IE” are coming to an end with IE8. Hooray!

I hear ya. I had to chuckle when I first heard that MS decided to create their own version of the W3 standard. I guess it was their way of forcing people to use their browser. The unfortunate thing was most webmasters and page creators fell for it, and coded for only IE. I know my step-son’s homeschooling program was like that last school year – they only allowed IE to access the online portals. This year, though, other browsers are usable. I guess too many parents complained.

    Cheers!
