New Year’s Forecast – A little cooler but still green

Sunday showers – Monday drying out (great ski day!)

The showers this morning should move off before sundown tonight.

Sunday 4PM image shows rain moving onto the BC mainland after crossing Vancouver Island and leaving scattered showers in its wake.

We will have showers off and on through the night and into Monday morning but the chance of showers will lessen throughout the day on Monday.

By Monday afternoon it is mostly dry in the area.

It will probably cool off a little on Monday as well but it doesn’t seem likely we’ll get to freezing except in the mountain areas.

Good skiing conditions on Monday!

New Year’s Eve showers.

Image for 4PM Tuesday shows a system coming onto the Island

It will be mostly dry through Tuesday daytime but the clouds will build again in the afternoon and we should see showers and rain start in the late afternoon on the West Coast and Central Island and later in the evening on the East and South Island.

It’s not a major storm, but another warm and wet addition to our Holiday Train of rainy weather systems.

It will move through quickly overnight and it should be dry for New Years Day but there is another weak band of rain late on Wednesday night.

10PM Wednesday night shows a weak system on the Island.

The snow level will be fairly low for all of these systems so Mt. Washington and other area mountains should get a fair amount of snow! I don’t see any chance for anything more than a few wet flakes on the Alberni Hump and Sutton Pass though. So be safe driving!

Hope everyone has had a pleasant Christmas time. 2025 is on the way!
