Ongoing Storm

This post will stay on here for the next 24 hours in order for people to see updates… please do use the comments to tell us how you’re doing.

As of 9:00 the Power is out in North Port, 1329 Hydro customers affected.

The Pac Weather Center seems to be updating their forecast on an almost 30 minute basis right now.

We have 2 inches of snow here so far and a ton coming down. I have a friend in Kyuquot (West Coast, North of Clayoquot Sound… at the mouth of Quatsino Sound)… they have 4 inches and the wind at the Quatsino lighthouse is 45knots. Blizzard conditions.

Update: I’m off to bed folks. Stay safe and warm.

UPDATE: I had 13cm this morning and another 5 this morning since 8AM.

It’s snowing on the West Coast, though we’re now getting the wet slushy stuff, and it’s warmed up considerably. A major mess getting to work this morning.

Just a side note, Kyuquot is NOT at the mouth of Quatsino Sound, it is near the entrance to Kyuquot Sound, which is well South of Quatsino Sound, but still North of Clayoquot Sound and Nootka Sound.

    Cheers!

Thanks for good updates – I didn’t know this existed.
I’m in Cherry Creek right now (Sat, 21st, 9:30 am) and there’s ongoing snow with about 6-8 inches on the ground.

Well, the snow is falling intermittently now. And it’s the wet, slushy, messy stuff too. What’s on the ground is melting as well. What a mess!

And to answer Chris’ (admin) question from before, I’m in Ucluelet, which means whatever is observed at Tofino Airport doesn’t always apply to us.

    Cheers!

Here in Nanaimo we have about 25cms so far and the wind is blowing, making for some cool snow drifts.
