We’re looking at 24hours of rain (afternoon Friday-afternoon Saturday)… then a break.. then some more rain on Monday and Tuesday.
Keep those drains clear and all that good stuff.
After the rain stops on Tuesday there is a cool down coming. I would give us a 30% chance of accumulating snow late next week around Thursday and Friday. Still a long way off.
There is also a lot of talk in the wider weather blogosphere of a general cool down in the West as we end February and head into March.
So keep the umbrella handy, but don’t put away the scraper or the snow shovel for good yet, I think we still have a ways to go.

Row, row, row your boat.. gently down 10th Ave… I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist.
Well Nick it’s probably more like 3rd Ave!
indeed ๐ wouldn’t that be AWESOME if we got tonnes of snow
I Think you’re right, Chris. More snow to go yet. But, thinking I might need to attach waterwings to the truck for tomorrow’s adventure….
This is interesting – it’s going to cool off as the day goes on. It’s already dropped to 3C at the Airport weather station.
It’s reporting 6C right now…. I notice the WUnderground forecast is calling for it to be a lot cooler than the EC forecast. Ice pellets and snow Monday night and Tuesday.
Strange, according to EC’s 24 hour history, it was 7C @ 7am, down to 4C @ 8am, 3C @ 9am, and back up to 6C @ 10 am. The rain must be dragging down pockets of cold air.
If you watch yesterdays timelapse, the smoke from the mill and the clouds in the sky were going south, north, south, north, south, north ๐
meant to add… maybe that’s a bit of what’s happening here… dueling flows bringing warm and cool air.
Gusted to 63kph just now. Sweet.
Awe, how sweeeet it is!

Hey, I think I found a comment system that works best…. 66kph so far!!
Pretty exciting today! I just drove around the flood plain and it’s not too bad yet. High tide is at 8:20 this evening, but it’s not a real big one.
if anyone has trouble please email me at chrisale@gmail.com… previous comments will reappear in a little bit after it gets all synced up, but you can post new ones immediately.
O.K. I’ll bite………..how long are we supposed to get this excellent storminess?
no idea! It wasn’t really supposed to be all crazy like this, I imagine it will calm down once the front passes later this afternoon.
It’s starting to brighten up a bunch, but man the wind is whipping the big tree!
It’s awesome out there! ๐
That wasn’t long enough!
Oh Eve, so hard to please! ๐
Hey there’s a rainbow, and blue sky, and the moon! ๐
yeeeeeha………..another bout of wind coming my way!!!!!!!
For the Wet Dept.. I’ve had 84mm at my station since midnight… In the Wind Dept, I saw many water funnel twister cloud thingys on Cameron Lake this afternoon on the way home rom Nana
We caught a couple on camera, and one went right over the truck on our way home. Trippy. No damage though.
Cool! Ya Im sure a bunch of the rain was getting blown over the station today. Alberni Elementary got 58, I got 48.
Calm again, it keeps changing directions. Out here in Beaver Creek it’s the North wind that gets us most. heard a huge crash must go investigate. Nick you should have taken your camera, those funnels on the lake are really cool!
I did take pics the last time there was activity like today.. I’ll see if I can dig them up.
that was a great afternoon
