As Nick pointed out in the comments of the last thread, last night we saw a pretty dramatic increase in Temperature from 2C all the way up to nearly 10C in the matter of about 20 minutes.
This was all thanks to the wind that blew in from the South. Well, that wind should continue to give us some nice balmy warmth for the next few hours…. and then it will all come to a screeching halt… and reverse course.
Once the front passes, which it should do by late this afternoon or evening, the winds will turn right around and start blowing in the Arctic Air. This should drop us down below zero by nighttime and may lead to some lingering flurries according to the forecast.
1PM forecasts for today.
1AM forecast tonight
Notice the very cold, white and grey is below -20C, air that comes towards the Coast from the Interior.
After the last bits of moisture blows out, it should clear right up and get good and cold. Hopefully that means a sunny weekend. Next week, we will hopefully see a little nice snow, not the slushy mess we were forced to deal with earlier this week.
The good news is that the temperatures won’t be down below -10C like the models have previously said, in fact. There look to be a few opportunities for snow mid-week next week as well as the week after.

Looking good, I hope the sun pokes through! What do you think of the long range Chris? Brett Anderson at Accuweather has the week of January 17 wet & mild, but the ARL GFS forecasts plenty of moisture but staying below zero.
