Timing for a showery weekend – But Sunday is good

Most showers happen Friday

The good news is the wet stuff has shifted a little earlier and Sunday is looking nicer than it did a few days ago.

Expect showers to start before noon on most of the Island as an area of moisture moves down the Island.

It looks like the strongest showers in Port Alberni will be around or just after 3 or 4PM but the front should pass by 5PM as the system sweeps south and east.

Saturday more scattered

The next likely time for rain will be Saturday morning but the system is much weaker and most of the moisture sticks to higher elevations. Or points around Courtenay/Comox.

There is a band of what may be thunderstorm type activity that forms across the Island south of Port Alberni around noon.

It then blossoms into some typical summery unstable thunderstorms potential along the East Coast but it again mostly misses Port Alberni on this model.

Clearing Sunday

The activity dries up completely on Sunday. I would expect it to start off foggy Sunday morning but it the sky should clear nicely by noon and we should be left with a sunny final Sunday of Summer! The fall equinox occurs before sunrise at 5:43AM next Sunday!

Have a great weekend!
